A few of our students from the ECA Debate Club participated in the first qualifying round of Hong Kong Schools Secondary Debating Competition (Primary Section). This is another first in the history of SCPS where students have represented the school and competed in external debating competitions.
The qualifying round was held at Canossa School (Hong Kong) on Friday, 8th March 2019. Our girls comprised the opposition while students from Canossa School (Hong Kong) comprised the proposition side. In the lead-up to the debate, students conducted critical analysis of data, practiced referencing and reviewed ways of taking a position and supporting arguments alongside other language-based tasks.
While the proposition team was announced the winner, Kayle Ho from P.5_Fortitude bagged the best debater award at the competition.
We eagerly look forward to another upcoming competition on Friday, 29th March 2019, wherein our girls will take on students from Chinese Methodist School. May the best team win!
